(Media Release) History of changes	ECONOMIC SECURITY The Economic Security section contains the following sub-topics: Working population Earnings, income and economic situation Housing LATEST HIGHLIGHTS Unemployment rate equal for men and women in 2013-14 Latest data from the ABS Labour Force Survey shows that the unemployment rate for both men and women aged between 20 and 74 years was equal at 5% in 2013-14. The unemployment rate has been trending upwards for women for the last five years. It has increased by one percentage point, from 4% in 2008-09 to 5% in 2013-14. For men, there was a fall in the unemployment rate of 0.7 percentage points between 2009-10 and 2010-11. However, between 2010-11 and 2013-14 the unemployment rate for men has increased by approximately one percentage point. Data from the ABS Labour Force survey also showed that there was a four percentage point difference in the underemployment rate between men and women aged 20-74 years in 2013-14. Male underemployment was 5% while female underemployment was 9%. Underemployment has increased for both men and women over the last five years.
